Find Me!

***This post is going to be a little different to how I normally post, as this is more of a diary, than a blog post. Sorry about that!!***

Yesterday, along with the rest of my Drama class, I completed my first, big GCSE exam! But before that...let's go back to six months ago...

Six Months Ago!

Six months ago, my drama teacher, Miss Bates, told my class that our drama exam would be based on the stimulus 'Looking Forward, Looking Back'. To be fair, I think a lot of us were confused at this stimulus, because we had no idea what to do! I had already decided by this time that I wanted to be a lighting designer, as I'm not that great at acting, so I had no choice in which text I used, as I had to devise the lights for one of the performances.

Around Five Months Ago!

So, a month passed, and we did a lot of research into different plays and texts that Miss Bates said suited the 'Looking Forward, Looking Back' stimulus. Some of the texts were rubbish, but there was one which really caught my eye. 'Find Me'

There were a lot of other texts to pick from, and there was also the option to devise our own piece, meaning that 'Find Me' could just have been 'put back on the shelf'.

Luckily, one of the groups picked 'Find Me', and I knew that would be the group for me to work in! Then it was rehearsal time!

From Five Months to One Week Away!

Over the next few months, the amount of rehearsals began to increase, getting later and later each time, but without the rehearsals, there wouldn't be a piece to perform to the examiner. At one point, my group and I had rehearsed from 15:00 until 17:00! That wasn't fun!! However, I still smiled, and laughed, as the group that I was working with was absolutely amazing!!

The Day of the Exam!

IT WAS EXAMINATION DAY!! But Miss Bates had forgotten to order the 'Pre-Exam Breakfast' through school, so she brought in some nibbles for us all to prepare for the day! Everyone looked amazing in their costume, it was unbelievable! The hard work, and dedication, from the past six months, had come to one, twenty minute performance...

I did my presentation, and I think that it went alright, and then the 'Find Me' group performed, and I was blown away by how amazing they were!!! As were the other groups, including 'Bang Bang and 'A Servant to Two Masters'. Unfortunately, I was unable to see the devised group's performance, as 'Find Me' were rehearsing.

Below, are a few images from the rehearsal of 'Find Me' from before the exam.

As you can see, the performance looks amazing!

Below, are a selection of photographs that I needed for my portfolio, about lighting 'Find Me'. I needed these pictures to explain which lights I had used for the scene, and why I had used them. There are only four different scenes in which I had to explain, however the performance featured a variety of excellent scenes, as chosen from the entire 'Find Me' script.

Aside from the late-ending rehearsals, and a few forgotten lines along the way, the final exam was a performance to be proud of! I cannot be more happy of the group for performing such a difficult piece, with complex scenes and dialogue.

I'm going to miss working with these people so much, because I've been with them, in drama, for three years, however I know that I have made some bonds that are going to be unbreakable. Thanks everyone for making the preparation and the exam (weirdly) such a delight. I wouldn't have been able to do it without you all!!

Now, all we have to do, is wait until the end of August, to get our exam results, however Miss Bates did seem pleased with us all!!

A massive thank you to Holly, Natalie, Libbi and Hayley, for allowing me to use the above images on my website.

As the images in this post feature in my portfolio and presentation for my exam, I am unable to provide anyone with a copy of the images, as I would normally be able to. I apologise for any inconvenience.
